SEED Teacher Program Graduate Credit FAQs
Why is graduate credit now being made available?
A partnership between eMINTS and Southern Utah University (SUU) was negotiated and recently approved to offer teachers in the SEED Teacher Program the option to enroll in 3 hours of graduate credit at a cost of $49 per credit hour ($147).
How does this course align with what teachers have already done in the SEED Program?
There are no new lessons or assignments in this course beyond what is already part of the SEED Teacher Program. The required assignments and activities in the course are already being completed by all teachers in the SEED Program. The course retroactively includes expectations and tasks from the Teacher Program from November 1 through the end of Year 1. Participants simply have between April 3-June 5 to turn them in for graduate credit.
What's the difference in expectations between the SEED professional development and the graduate course?
Participants will submit artifacts and assignments they have already created (or will create) as part of the SEED program. The work and artifacts need to be of high quality and worthy of graduate credit. For some participants, this may require some revision to the products they created as part of the PD program.
What can teachers do with the graduate credit?
Teachers should check with their school district to see if the SUU graduate credit can be applied to salary advancement and with their graduate programs to see if transfer credit from SUU will be accepted.
