eMINTS Administrator Program

“I’ve been an eMINTS trainer for ten years and the manager of the program in our district for six of those years.

In all that time I have never seen a program that connects teachers and students in the way eMINTS does. It as a culture transforming program. Teachers come out changed in how they see both instruction and their students. It’s a game changer like no other.”

~Jeremy King, Baldwin County, Alabama, 2018

Innovation in the Heartland is not just another 1:1 initiative that puts devices and makerspaces in schools without concern for whether they transform learning, nor is it a curriculum that tells teachers what to teach.  Instead, it is focused on improving student achievement by helping teachers transform their classrooms into highly-engaging student-centered learning communities.  It supports teachers in all aspects of designing and implementing effective standards-based instruction, promotes STEM education using design-based problem-solving, and fosters critical 21st century skills such as creativity, grit, and self-regulation.

In order to foster an innovative school culture capable of achieving these goals, teachers, trainers and administrators participate in two years of professional development.

Key components of the Administrator Program:
  • eMINTS staff provide support and mentoring for administrators via monthly phone calls
  • eMINTS staff provide PD for administrators on what to expect in eMINTS classrooms, how to support Teachers and Affiliate Trainers,  and how to use design thinking as a tool for school innovation
  • PD includes one face-to-face and 3 virtual sessions each year
  • Materials and guidance are provided for Administrators to plan for implementation of the project at their schools and to conduct walk-throughs in technology-rich classrooms
  • Year 2 includes a state-wide celebration and a session with school staff on using the design process to plan for future innovation
I’m measurably better now as a teacher.

eMINTS Teacher

Control of the classroom has become more level… and even tipped to student control.

It’s amazing what they can do now!

          ~D.S.,
eMINTS Teacher
