District Involvement
- Support and promote professional development by all 7th and 8th grade core subject and certain special education teachers, affiliate trainers, and principals as outlined above.
- Provide data to AIR (American Institutes of Research) - See External Evaluation.
- Provide a wireless network with capacity to sustain a one-to-one Chromebook implementation.
- Set up a Google G Suite domain. We can provide support with this if needed.
- Provide technical support for classroom Chromebooks.
- Districts are provided with a small stipend based upon their federal indirect rate to spend on the project in ways they choose. In our last grant, this amounted from $0 up to $600 depending on the district rate.
- Other costs to the district should be minimal. Some districts choose to provide things such as food for training sessions or special on-boarding gifts such as t-shirts. You may want or need to supplement travel expenses allowed by the grant.
- The grant provides $20/hour for district trainers to attend PD and facilitate PD. Funds are not provided for the planning that is involved. Some districts opt to supplement this amount for their trainers. $4940 is budgeted for each district trainer.
- Districts must agree to work with vendor partners in a timely manner to resolve ordering, delivery or set-up issues so that all project technologies are in good working order for the duration of the project. Chromebooks are white-gloved by our vendor, KCAV, and arrive at the school ready to be used out-of-the-box.
- Districts must provide sufficient bandwidth for one-to-one Chromebook classrooms.
- Districts must maintain a Google Domain for the duration of the project required for Chromebook use. We can provide assistance for setup if you need help.
- The success of the implementation depends upon technologies that work well for teachers. Districts must provide timely technical support to classrooms.
- Because vendors provide a good deal of the match required to obtain this grant, the Chromebooks are chosen for the entire project. Unfortunately districts are not able to choose the brand or model provided.
- Administrators travel to two statewide meetings and a celebration event.
- Teachers travel to a statewide teacher kickoff (summer of year 1)
- Trainers travel to 10 days of regional professional development days and to the statewide teacher kickoff. Overnight travel is provided if required.
- Mileage is provided at the rate of $0.37 / mile, the state of Missouri established mileage rate (If your district rate is higher, you may have to supplement.)
- Trainers will be required to attend six virtual sessions / year. These might be held during the school day or after school depending on the needs of the group.
- Trainers must be able to perform classroom visits during the school day. This involves seven visits / year for at least one class period for each teacher. If your school does not have the staff to support the complete training role, we can help. Local RPDCs will support your local trainer/s.
- PD sessions can be scheduled during the school day, after school or during allotted district professional development time. The grant provides $20/ hour for each teacher. This can be used for paying teachers for out of contract PD hours; benefits must be removed from this amount. It might also be used to pay a substitute for in-contract professional development hours.
- Principals attend one day of summer training in both years of the program.
- District trainers attend 5 days of summer training in year one and 3 days in year two.
- Teachers attend a one-day summer kickoff event in the first year.
- eMINTS completes all federal reporting requirements. Your district will have no reports to complete.
- District trainers take attendance at sessions and maintain class visit records. These are recorded in a Google document provided to your trainer.
- Districts designate a fiscal contact who submits reimbursements and invoices to the eMINTS National Center for payment. Districts make purchases, file paperwork with eMINTS and are reimbursed in a timely manner.
- Each school building will designate a data contact who is responsible for data collection activities. For data collection requirements see External Evaluation.
- Each school building will designate a project contact. We will send all grant correspondence to this contact. The project contact is responsible for distributing information to necessary parties in the district.
